A Relaxing Rush Hour

Although we walked across Waterloo Bridge early this evening, we weren't treated to much of a sunset.

We stopped in at the Hayward Project Space, currently filled with Ujino Muneteru's installation Ugly Knitting. Kind of like what might happen if home appliances got cosy with musical instruments during a lightning storm, the room was alive with pulsing sound and light. If you want to get some idea of what "Ujino and the Rotators" are all about, there are some video links on his his website. Another installation by the same artist currently sits on the nearby Royal Festival Hall terrace. Entitled Sherbet Dab Swivel, the piece consists of a black cab perched atop a whirring street sweeper, as if ready to leap into the nearby Thames,

taking its flashing light-bulb passengers along with it.

Before we arrived at our next destination, we stopped for a particularly elegant coffee break

and passed a banner of skeletal sorts.

We took our seats at St John's Waterloo just in time to hear another free "Rush Hour Concert" by the Southbank Sinfonia, and after listening to two Beethoven compositions while we sipped wine and juice, we joined in the applause

and caught a post-rush-hour bus home.
