Ganache

Today was Bob's birthday, and to celebrate, we had a lazy day in the neighbourhood, starting with brunch at a place that Bob had heard was yummy and cheap (our favourite combination):
He heard right! Bob enjoyed a healthy take on the full English breakfast: mushrooms, poached eggs, avocado, and slices of chewy baguette drizzled with olive oil.
I took the more traditional, less healthy route with a generous order of eggs Florentine:
We walked to Clissold Park to have a look inside the butterfly tunnel, but the stars of the show were a bit shy today, and the usual mob scene of fluttering colours was nowhere to be seen.
What would a lazy day be without a bit of stretching out on the grass?
Unfortunately, when the wind picked up and the light dusting of fluff from the trees turned into a ridiculous blizzard, we left the park amidst my sneezes and sniffling, and spent the rest of the day indoors, safe from the evils (evils, I tell you) of nature. Ah, but it wouldn't be a birthday without cake, now would it?
As usual, the delicious treats came from our beloved neighbourhood pâtisserie, Belle Époque, with the birthday boy choosing the pâtisserie's eponymous creation (consisting of dark chocolate ganache, orange chocolate mousse, and a crème brûlé centre) as well as a caramel cheesecake for us to share. Happy birthday!
