Photographer and Surrealist

Hampstead's always good for a stroll, and since we've (well, I've) had to avoid the heath for the past few months while my hay fever took over my life, we decided to venture toward Hampstead Heath today for a reunion with its spectacular setting. Before we got to the heath, we passed a blue plaque for Lee Miller and Roland Penrose:
A bit closer to the heath, a fierce Hampstead guardian watched over his home:
As we crossed over onto the heath, it wasn't long before we felt completely removed from the rest of the city:

We didn't stay on the heath as long as we had planned, since my sneezing didn't seem to be completely banished, and decided to walk to Highgate, stopping in at a pub for some cold drinks before taking a bus toward home. Strangely, the bus we were waiting for seemed to be capable of time travel, although this miracle of science was only advertised to take place many stops after ours:
The bus let us off near the New River Path, and we strolled up this lovely part of Islington,
pausing to watch a bird at its bath:
The door to the caretakers' hut was open a bit, and all I can say is that I'm very impressed at how thorough a job this Islington employee does tending to the New River Path!
