The Odds

Since we've lived in London, we've flown on (or considered flying on) airlines that we haven't heard of until we considered booking with them--there are so many regional/ budget/ national airlines in Europe that it's often difficult to keep track. With recent stories of travellers getting stranded as various airlines go under and also potentially losing the money they paid for their now useless tickets, we're paying more attention to airlines' financial situations before we book, and we're not the only ones:
Paddy Power is just one of many high-street betting shops in the UK, and it seems that they'll take bets on just about anything, and I do mean anything. For example, they're currently offering 4 to 1 odds on the assertion, "There is a God." And if you're wondering just how any payout would work, the fine print for what they call "God Betting" reads: "Scientific proof must emerge by 31st Dec 2009, to confirm his omnipresence in order for bets to be deemed winners."
